The Fans are not real people.

I actively resisted basing characters specifically on individuals I knew. I think this practice is kind of selfish, really: "in my personal reality, you agree with everything I say! And in that same reality, the girl who was mean to me? Everyone agrees she's kind of a dumbass." Also, I wanted the freedom to have characters flirt with villainy, ridiculous behavior or personal ruin without worrying about what I was doing to my friends.

Nevertheless, I couldn't resist using KT Hicks' signature phrase, "You don't know, do you?" KT was, I'll grant, one of the ingredients of Katherine.

Tim's original line (not seen here) referenced Bill Clinton. Rikk's visual list of suspects includes Bill Gates, Newt Gingrich, the Cancer Man, Mr. Moneybags and... Tom Baker's Doctor Who. Written in 1997 and published in 1999. We're so oooooooooold.
