Then I read the 4th panel and was really confused. My Russian isn’t perfect, but it seems like ‘shut up, get outta here/shut up, go to hell!’ is really strange to be hearing from the President of Russia. (Also his eagerness for violence is equally worrying, considering his position of power).
I’m really curious as to what the virus will end up bringing to the people in exchange for its co-existence, and this false peace was always a ploy by this Jackalope Cabal.

The actual Russian words in panel four are considered extremely foul swear words, but in essence, they do say “Shut up, go to heck.” The fake Cyrillic everywhere else was for our benefit, but I think it was to show that they were speaking Russian.
This doesn’t feel right to me. The virus host bodies will be nuked if they have to be to protect the greater populace, so we agree to a truce – to “work together.” So, what’s to stop the virus from slowly spreading across the entire populace until the possibility of “nuking the hosts” is no longer a possibility – because the virus is everywhere?
I wonder if Russia has their own version of AEGIS… or is Vladimir Putin weapon enough to defend Russia against sci-fi threats?
In any case, I’ve just thought of something: What if there’s no Jackalope Cabal? What if the guys who made the Voltritis virus just tried to pull off an Ozymandias and the virus is just like a squid monster designed to scare nations into being good neighbors?
Putin does like most cultured people do, he addresses Cognomen in *his* language until Cognomen switches to Russian. Travel most places in Europe and you will find most people do the same.
When I was in Spain I was typically greeted in English, even if the other person didn’t speak much of it. I was usually greeted with a sigh of relief when I switched to Spanish 😉
