Why did Joseph and his mom (and which mom was it) have to sneak in? Why is Dotty saying Uncle Marc? Did she just spend that much time around AEGIS folks as a kid? Argh, this comic raises so many questions.
They snuck in because, years into an alternate future, Marc and Ally don’t get along any more, obviously. There are pretty much only two reasons to sneak into a person’s house, and the other one isn’t something you’d bring your kid along for.
What’s implied here is that Joseph only has one mother – otherwise Dotty would specify. There are three ways that can happen. The first, the least believable, is that one of the girls leaves Rikk. The second, the most believable, is that one of them dies. The third, less believable than the second but my favorite choice, is that both of them leave Rikk, and stay with each-other, and Joseph is the child of Ally and Rumi. And we all know which one of them is the chick in that relationship. (I think. I think it’s Rumi. I guess I would have answered Ally before they joined Team Alpha, though.)
This page also strongly implies that Shanna eventually leaves Will, keeps the house, and hooks up with Marc. Marc is of course not the brother of Tim nor Tim’s wife, so “uncle” must just be a term of endearment.
My only question is why Dotty would remember living in Marc and Shanna’s house. Maybe Tim is killed and they adopt her? That would explain why she uses a familial term for Marc.
My Guess is Dotty is the one being conceived right at this very moment. Will leaves Shanna sometime after she’s born, so Marc and Shanna hook up; and Dotty calls her mom’s new paramour ‘uncle’ Marc.
Mayhap ‘mum’ (or mom, as you say) in the future will refer to our present ‘dad’? Or perhaps the meaning will change sufficiently to indicate Rikk due to his role in Joseph’s upbringing? If so, then the singular would make sense.
Perhaps Dotty is simply relying on Joseph remembering which of his mothers he came to the house with, and doesn’t feel the need to specify. Often people will say “your grandfather” or “your cousin” without more detail when referring to events that happened with only one of said relatives.
LockeZ has it right – the part about Shanna and Will anyway. What I take from this strip is a strong suggestion that Shanna and Will split, she keeps the house, and hooks up with Marc. Either Rumy or Allisin come back at a future date to visit Shanna, when Marc is away – as presumably there would be bad blood between Marc and the rest since he effectively broke up Will and Shanna’s marriage. Why Dotty remembers living there… I’m not sure. That Tim and Julia die and she is adopted by Will and Shanna (or Marc and Shanna) is a strong possibility.
LockeZ, I think your forgetting a detail. Rikk is sick and implied by Feddy G that it was his doing and Rikk would not recover. Most likely Joseph was raised by Ally and Rumi. As to which one sneaks into the house with Uncle Marc or why there’s an Uncle Marc, I’m unsure. But I believe Rikk is out of the picture as Joseph was describe as an on his feet thinker, not a leader. Qualities of the girls not Rikk.
Personally I don’t care where this is going right now… I”m just happy I was right that Tiki Wiki isn’t linked to the characters we know and love! I totally called that! 😀
I agree with the people saying this team comes from a future in which Rikk was killed early. That’s probably the event that causes their future to go to hell.

There’s nothing stopping more than one kid being named Dotty.
I’m inclined to think that Dotty is Shana’s child since Dotty’s manic ADD is reminiscent of Shana’s mom.
